IMPRESSIONEN

In “Metamorphose” the audience is captivated by the energy of the two performers, and their deep need to tell their personal stories is palpable in the air. The large eyes on the backdrop of the stage mirror our own – watching their action, but also watching the reaction of the audience itself. How are we supposed to act after having experienced these poignant and yet often humorous testimonies? The whole piece seems to question how these women are seen by the world. For me, this a rare artistic position not only due to the visibility of two female Muslim performers from a far-away country, but simply because of their authenticity and talent.

In my eyes, this piece has everything a good piece needs to have. It’s political, it’s dynamic, it’s personal, it’s touching yet not mawkish, it’s direct, it’s urgent. I liked the dynamic in the piece; how they let the public breath after the intense scenes, and on the other hand how the show increases its energy after calm, intimate moments, for example by getting complexer and adressing more senses again. So obviously that means I also really liked the dramaturgy of the piece! I liked the humour in the piece. And I’m not just talking about the men, also those little comments you drop. I liked how you created so many pictures with so little material. You really ruled the multifunctionality of that rag! I liked to hear you talking in your maternal language, for me this is another access, another possibility to get a feeling for your country/culture, for how it sounds when people interact with each other....
again: It’s reeeeeeally a GREAT work you’ve done here, I’m still moved and wish you all the best with it! I hope you can go to a lot of international festivals etc., you really deserve it!

I was deeply impressed by the simplicity and simultaneously the strength of their bodies and voices and how present they’ve been without pushing. Also I was touched by their stories and the way it was told and made them comprehensible for me. I really felt connected to them and their courage to go your own way and this inspired me. And I really liked the lines of Zarina at the end! They were so beautiful and simple in a way. And how Makhina moves is so present and clear and I just cannot stop watching!
